Mr. Leggett was a prominent and popular citizen and was well-known throughout Colbert County, having been reared near Leighton. He served the county for four years as sheriff and was a candidate for the office in the August election but was forced to withdraw from the race on account of failing health.
Mr. Leggett was about 53 years old when he died at his home in September 1918. He is buried in Tuscumbia, Alabama.
