2015 Winter Flooding in the Shoals

12/28/2015

Christmas week 2015 was a very rainy period.  Excessive rainfall across North Alabama caused massive run-off into the Tennessee River and all of the creeks that feed into the river.  Wilson Lake levels are high with more water running into it daily.  The spill-ways are all open and pouring thousands of gallons of water an hour into Pickwick Lake below the dam.  Pickwick Lake flood stage level is 18 feet, however Dec. 27th the river stage was at 23 feet causing water to pour into McFarland Park, Florence Harbor Marina, Hwy 20 and all the surrounding area.
